Johnny Cooke

Johnny Lee Cooke, 75, of Hope Mills, died Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Johnny is the son of Pearl Grant and the late Herbert Cooke. Johnny served as a Marine during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked in auto salvage and shipping at Young’s Auto Center & Salvage. Johnny was a kind and loving husband and father. He loved fishing, playing golf and spending time with his lab, Jake.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Yvonne Cooke of the home; his daughters; Casey Cooke and Laura Cooke, step daughters; Mary Jo Canady and Audra Bramble; son, Johnny Cooke, Jr.; grandson: Kendrick Cooke, step grandsons; Griffin Canady and Benjamin Canady, and 2 great grandchildren, sisters; Sharon Cooke, Lou Huyck, Kay King, and Teresa McLean; and brothers, Michael Grant, and Sam Cooke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Cooke and a twin brother, Jimmy Cooke.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2020, at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301, conducted by Rev. PJ Southam. The family is in care of McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, PO Box 283, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
