Katherine Brisson

Katherine “Kay” Penfield Brisson, 71, of the Bladen Union community at Tobermory, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her home. She was born in Bladen County, North Carolina May 19, 1942, a daughter of the late Joseph Taylor and Wilma Johnson Penfield. Following graduation from Gray’s Creek High School in 1960 Kay went to work as a secretary at Carolina Model Homes.  She continued her career as a secretary/bookkeeper at various businesses until her retirement in 2008 from Cherry Grove Sales and Rentals in Cherry Grove Beach, SC. She is survived by sisters Joanne P. Jackson, Miriam H. Penfield, and Marsha Davis; nieces and nephews Chuck Jackson, Linda Burr, Richard Davis, Ashley Wilcox, Christopher Burr, Ryan Burr, Jordan Jackson, Christian Burr, and Kinsley Davis. Visitation will be Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, St. Pauls, NC. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bladen Union Baptist Church, Fayetteville, NC, with Reverend David Canady and Reverend Gary Lucas officiating.
