Marvin Floyd Cox, 75, of St. Pauls died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham with his wife, Judy, and daughter, Wendy, by his side. He was born in Shannon, NC on October 26, 1944 to the late Raymond and Flossie Cribb Cox. He was a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and taught at Grey’s Creek Elementary School. For many years he was a funeral attendant with McNeill Funeral Home in St. Pauls and was a master furniture refinisher, teaching that art at Fayetteville Technical Community College. A man of faith, he was an active member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed helping with the Men’s Group. As an athletic younger man he was talented and especially good at America’s Pastime, baseball. He taught those skills to a younger generation as a Little League Baseball Coach. He loved the St. Pauls community and wouldn’t consider living anywhere else. Marvin loved all animals but was truly a dog person and had several beloved dogs over the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Passwater and brothers, Dewel Cox, Levern Cox, Merrell Cox, and Carson Cox. Marvin is survived by his wife Judy of St. Pauls, daughter Wendy Cox of Durham, and sister Annette Snellman and her husband Leonard of Quakertown, PA. A visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Pauls United Methodist Church with the Reverend Harold Salmon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Pauls United Methodist Church Food Bank, 519 N. Wilkerson Dr., St. Pauls, NC 28384.
