Mary Nobuko Matusi Odom, 89, died Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC. She was born March 5, 1929 in Tokyo, Japan to the late Taige Matusi and Yama Takage Matusi. She and her late husband, Albert, owned and operated Odom & Son’s Tire Service in St. Pauls for many years. She was very good at traditional Japanese dance and maintained a close relationship with her friend’s in Fayetteville’s Japanese community. Mary was a great cook and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She sure loved her boys, Jessie and Carey. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert Odom, son, Carey Odom and brothers, Hisao Matusi and Hiroharu Matusi, she is survived by her son, Jessie Odom and his wife Mary; daughter-in-law, Carolyn McLendon Odom; grandchildren, Deidre Wilwert and Thomas Odom; and great granddaughter, Kenley. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday October 4, 2018 at 7:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls with Reverend Bruce Skipper and Reverend David Hodge officiating.  Arrangements by McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
