Richard Young II

Richard Montez Young II, 59, of St. Pauls died November 22, 2020. He was born July 12, 1961 to the late Richard Montez and Janet Rowan Young, Sr. Richard served for 17 years 7 months in the United States Navy. While serving, he was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Navy Good Conduct Award (twice), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and the .45 Caliber Expert Pistol Shot Medal. He was employed with PWC for 19 years as a crew leader for the sewer water construction department. His crew said “He was a very knowledgeable leader and teacher. He taught us everything we know.” His wife, Beth, described him as “a beloved multitalented husband to her for 13 years. During those 13 years, we discovered we were not a conventional married couple, but we were soul mates. We gifted each other throughout the year, making every day a holiday. She went on to say, “ While he was taken from me too soon, the memories, the yard projects and the unlimited number of trinkets around my house, has left me with a deep well of satisfaction that he will continue to live on in the hearts of his friends and family.  Richard, you are my world and my best friend. I love you and I miss you.”  He inherited 4 children when he married Beth and embraced each one of those as his own. They commented that “Richard was the epitome of what a father is. Not only did he inherit the love of her children, but also the grandchildren that later arrived.  He was the great protector, knower of all thing’s cars, who always had a smile of his and joke in heart.  He was good, honest and will always be in our hearts.  We will love him for the rest of our days.”

Preceded in death by his parents, Richard Montez Young Sr. and Janet Rowan Young, and sister Tawna Everling, he is survived by his wife Beth An Young; son, Richard Young III and wife Stephanie; daughters, Kristen Petrie and husband Daryl, Chere Lee and husband Joel; step-daughters, Bethany Harris, Beverly Moore and husband Gaylon, Kayti Headrick and her husband Chris; Step-son, Robert Simpson and his wife Lauren; grandchildren, Koty, Donovan, Landon, Victor, Kaleb, Kylie, Kaelynn, Jayla, Aubrey, Novalee, Lucas and Ryan.
