Russell Orndorf

Russell Wayne Orndorf, 68, of Fayetteville, formerly of Waynesville, Ohio, died Wednesday July 3, 2019. He was born in Montgomery County, OH on June 22, 1951 to Charles Russell and Dolores Head Orndorf. He was a man of many talents, interests and hobbies. He served honorably and proudly with the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1978 and participated in the evacuation of US soldiers and Vietnamese civilians during the closing days of the conflict in Southeast Asia. He was, also, a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service. Preceded in death by his father, Charles Orndorf, and his paternal grandparents Otto Edward and Pearl Orndorf Lewis and his maternal grandparents, James Wiley and Lillian Bryant Head, he is survived by his mother, Dolores; wife, Malenna; daughters, Lisa (Joey Moore) of Eastover, NC and Amy (Mike Mathes) of Mustang, OK; brothers, Kenneth Orndorf (Susan) of Miamisburg, OH, and James Orndorf of the home; sister, Carolyn Klienert (Phillip) of Stedman, NC; grandchildren, Edward Nunnery, Cheyenne Mathes, Dakota Mathes, Kiowa Mathes, and Shelby Moore; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lois Donley, John Donley (Sharon), Sharon Mendenhall, and Tim Donley (Sherry); numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins, David Edwards, Jeannie McGinnis, and many honorary sons and daughters. A visitation will be held Monday July 8, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Cumberland Union Baptist Church, 6957 Tabor Church Road, Fayetteville, NC with a funeral service scheduled for 12:00 noon Monday July 8, 2019, also, at the church with the Reverend John Blackman, Jr. officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Cumberland Union Baptist Church Building Fund, 6957 Tabor Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312.
