Zelma White

Zelma Cashwell White, 86 of St. Pauls, NC, died on January 8, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Zelma was born on January 14, 1934, in St. Pauls, NC, to the late Evie Norton Cashwell and William Carson Cashwell of St. Pauls, NC.

Preceded in death by her late husband, Ollin White; Zelma is survived by her children from Ollin White, the late Robin White, Jimmy White (Adali), and Jennifer White Reneau (Timmy), other children from her late previous husband, Thomas Johnson and their kids, Patricia Johnson Blackwell (J.W.) of St. Pauls, Gwen Williams (Austin), and Donna Johnson Royal (Milton) of Fayetteville; 4 grandsons; Christopher Rogers, Austin Reneau, Justin E. White (Randi M.), Gil Ruiz, and granddaughter, Veronica Fernandez (Jendryx), great-grandsons Eliah Ruiz, son of Gil E. Ruiz and Kigh Sage White, son of Justin E. White (Randi M.).

Zelma was a professional seamstress during the early years of raising children and worked part-time at the family business, White’s Exxon, with her husband, Ollin White. Zelma attended the East Lumberton Church of God during her childhood and the St. Pauls Church of God until it closed, then attended Calvary Corner Stone Holiness Church in St. Pauls, NC. Zelma served in the St. Pauls Church of God as a Sunday School teacher, Women’s Fellowship (fundraiser, community outreach and internal church affairs, youth teacher), faithfully attended each church, and was an active intercessory prayer warrior. Zelma was an outstanding church member, an entrepreneur, and an excellent fundraiser for churches.  Zelma was the office manager for the family gas station/garage's business affairs. Zelma cherished caring for house plants, growing and harvesting a large garden, spending time as a professional seamstress, crocheting blankets and afghans, in addition to making quilts and clothing.  Her hobbies were quilting, Bible studies, collecting bells and angels.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at Calvary Corner Stone Holiness Church in St. Pauls, NC, with a funeral service to follow at 1 P.M. with Reverend David Hodge officiating. The family is in care of McNeill Mackie Funeral Home.
