Alice Inman Layton

Alice Inman Layton passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the precious age of 98.  Alice was born in St. Pauls, NC on January 21, 1924 to the late Archie and Ruth Inman.

She was preceded in death by brothers Neville Inman, Angus Inman, husband of 43 years, Frank K. Layton, as well as her second husband, Frank White.  Also preceding her in death was her youngest son, Alvin Earl Layton.

Alice earned her nursing degree in Greenville, SC and practiced her nursing skills in the Rocky Mount Sanitarium, private practice, and as a school nurse.  

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Inman Sumner, her sons Frank K. Layton Jr. (Jeannie) of Red Oak and Richard I. Layton (Tonya) of Tarboro.

Also left to cherish her memories are seven grandchildren, Scott Layton, Joshua Layton, Morgan Layton Davis, Allison Layton, Michelle Layton Pruitt, Frank K. Layton III (Kenny), and Sarah Layton; as well as 12 great grandchildren.

Alice was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in St. Pauls and was always proud to call St. Pauls her home.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11 AM with a funeral service to follow at 12 noon at First Baptist Church .  Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery immediately following the service.  

In Lieu of flowers, Memorials in memory of Alice Layton may be made to First Baptist Church of St. Pauls 302 S. Second St., St. Pauls, NC  28384.
