Betty Penfield Townsend

Betty Penfield Townsend, 83, of St. Pauls was born October 3, 1939 in Bladen Co., NC to the late Leslie Penfield and Lottie Pittman Penfield and departed this life December 31, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her living family.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Townsend; one step daughter, Jennie Revels; one brother, Marshall Penfield; three sisters, Bessie Manuel, Annie Ruth Drukenbrod and Mildred Singletary.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Glenda Monroe of the home; three sons, Tommy Muse and wife, Tina of Louisburg, Scott Muse of St. Pauls and Robbie Muse and wife, Patrice of Diamondhead, MS; two step sons, William Townsend, Jr. of Shallotte and Phillip Townsend and wife, Sandy of Summerville, SC; one sister, Mable Beard of Lumberton; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, family request contributions to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
