Bradley Lamont Hall passed away on 2/26/25 in Vancouver Washington at 59 years of age. Brad was born to Edward “Pug” Hall and Lynda Darden Hall in 1966 at a time when children with Down’s Syndrome were often abandoned by their families and left in institutions. This would not be the choice for Brad. As very young parents, far from home due to military service, Pug and Lynda had a lot of uncertainty when it came to their new child. They worked hard and made many sacrifices to give Brad the best possible life. Lynda was active particularly in his early education ensuring he was able to learn to read and write.
In his younger years he won multiple medals in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed singing and dancing. He graduated from High School in 1986. He was highly knowledgeable about popular culture, especially television, horror movies and music.
Brad was a character. He loved his birthday, which was February 3rd. And if you met him you would soon know that too. He received many cards each year from friends, family and acquaintances with well wishing. The only thing Brad loved more than his birthday, perhaps other than his family, was Elvis Presley. The way that some people might inquire as to your status with knowing the Lord, Brad would regarding “the King”. One of the most incredible things that happened for Brad is when his cousin David and his wife VIcki took him on a trip to Graceland where he was able to not only visit the home of his ‘idol’ but also Sun Records.
After his parents passed Brad was in the care of his cousin Mike and his wife Hetty Savage in Greensboro NC. Hetty in particular devoted herself to Brad. For the last few years of this life he was active in a day program and regularly attended church services. He was happy and healthy.
Brad passed away in a memory care facility due. His nurse and others he encountered there, while they only knew him a short time, were charmed by his playful presence and mourned his loss.
Brad is survived by his sister Tracy Braden, her husband and daughter. Several cousins, including Mike and Hetty Savage, and David and Vickie Savage and Joe Sherrill. A service for Brad Hall will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls, NC on Oct 4th at 1pm. You are welcomed to attend and sing with us.
