Carey Elizabeth Rice passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, Carey displayed incredible courage and unwavering hope. She fought with determination and grace and often stated that, regardless of her sickness, she was in God’s perfect will and that He had a plan for her.

Born June 9, 1978, in Robeson County, Carey was the daughter of Dexter Rice (LouAnn) and Sharon Martin (Marvin). She is survived by both parents and her son, Jolon Scott; her twin sister and devoted caregiver, Erica Hyatt (Byron); nephew, Justin Hyatt (Shayla); niece, Miley Hyatt; great-niece, Willow; and a host of special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Carey was full of life and never met a stranger. She had a contagious smile and left an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends alike. Her legacy of love will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Pauls Community Church, located at 492 Veterans Road, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
