On September 8, 2022, at approximately 3pm, Cynthia Diane Pilgreen Townsend a beloved mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 75. Diane was born in Hamilton, NC to the late Luther Pilgreen and Mary Pilgreen Landry. She passed peacefully at her home in St. Pauls surrounded by her family.
Diane attended Friendship Baptist Church in St. Pauls for the majority of her Life and attended Second Baptist Church in St. Pauls for the last few years of her life. Diane enjoyed family time and cooking, manicures and singing in church and doing arts and crafts. Her family were her heart and soul.
In addition to her parents, Diane is preceded in death by her husband William “Will” Brooks Townsend Jr., her stepdad Sid Landry, and three brothers Luther “Ed” Pilgreen. , Glenn “Mickey” Pilgreen (Priscilla), and James “Dick” Pilgreen.
Diane leaves to cherish her memories her three children, William B Townsend III and wife Missy of Vass, NC; Glenn F Townsend and wife Renae of St. Pauls NC; Melody Oakley of Vass, NC. Six granddaughters: Cynthia McMorrow, Jenny McMorrow, Jessica Townsend, Mary Townsend, Amber Townsend, Brianna Townsend (Larry "LJ" King). Two grandsons, Joshua, and Zackary Townsend. One brother Joe Pilgreen and two sister-n-laws Brenda Pilgreen, and Louise Rising. Diane also leaves behind three great grandkids whom she raised since birth: Ethan James, Elizabeth Grace “Lizzy”, and Emily Brooks McMorrow and a host of many nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memories are Keith and Deb McMorrow and Jennifer Milligan.
