Dale Dickerson Wilkerson went home to Jesus on September 20, 2021 at age 79.
Born on June 12, 1942 in Charlottesville, Virginia, Dale was the daughter of the late Howard and Hazel Dickerson.
To know Dale was to love her. She never met a stranger and she was always there to offer a smile, a prayer, or a hug. If you were within camera shot of her, you can bet there is a picture of you in her camera roll. She loved so fiercely. Dale married the love of her life on April 24, 1960. Together, they raised four boys. She was a member of Great March Baptist Church where she loved to sing. Dale worked at Dixie Yarn Mills and Western Publishing until they both closed, where she made many lifelong friends who she held very close to her heart. She was also a dance instructor for some years! Many of us will remember her saying the phrase “It is what it is”. Everyone she met quickly became her “son or daughter from another mother”. She is often referred to as “Mama Dale”. She has children all over the world. Dale loved to spend her time worshiping and praising God and visiting friends and family. Dale was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Dale was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Wilkerson. Her son, Howard Wilkerson, and her brother Karl Dickerson. She will be loved and remembered by her surviving relatives, sons, Todd (Gidget) Wilkerson, Scott Wilkerson, and Mike (Lisa) Wilkerson. Daughter in law, Joy Wilkerson. Sister in law, Pat Dickerson. Grandchildren, Chris Wilkerson, Josh Wilkerson, Johnny Burkhart, Julie (Greg) Hadley, Justin (Jessica) Haynes, and Ashley Burch. She was blessed with an abundance of great grandchildren. She also has many extended family members.
