Dennis "Alf" Parnell

Dennis "Alf" Alfred Parnell, 81 of Parkton, NC died Tuesday 1/26/2016 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born 1/6/1935 in Robeson County to the late Dennis and Lula McMillan Parnell. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday 1/29/2016 at 2:00 PM in Parkton Baptist Church, 108 E. David Parnell St., Parkton, with the Reverend William Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Parkton Cemetery. A Visitation will be held Thursday 1/28/2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls. Mr. Parnell retired as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Robeson County after 34 and a half years of service. He was very active in the Parkton community, among other things, having served on the Parkton City Council, Past President of the Parkton Ruritan Club, Past President of Parkton Baptist Brotherhood, Chairman of the Robeson County Tax Evaluation Committee, Parkton Volunteer Fire Department Member and he served with the NC National Guard's Parkton Unit. He graduated from the NC Highway Patrol Academy in 1962. He is survived by his wife, Dottie; sons, Michael Parnell and his wife Donna and Mitchell Parnell and his wife Denise; grandchildren, Matt Parnell, Laura Boarts and her husband Matthew, Chelsea Parnell, Kelly Hunt and her husband Andrew, and Andrew Parnell.
