Dorothy Cashwell Lawing

Dorothy Cashwell Lawing, 91, of Parkton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Valley Hospice House in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Born on February 28, 1934, in Robeson County, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Purcell Cobb Cashwell and Sallie Belle Stephens Cashwell.

Dorothy dedicated her career to public service, working as a Town Clerk with the Government Civil Service.

Dorothy was known for her devotion to family and the deep love she held for those closest to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Lawing, Jr.; her son, Robert S. Lawing III; her daughter, Jennifer Lawing Parker; her brother, Ken Cashwell; and her sisters, Ruby McCormic, Nellie Armstrong, and Virginia Barbour.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Lawing Johnson (Ricky); two grandchildren, Allison Jamison (Lee) and Emily Bennett (Kevin); five great-grandchildren; and her favorite niece, Debbie Armstrong Pederson, who held a special place in her heart.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home, with Reverend Amanda Pone officiating.
