Dr. Thomas E. Williams, 80, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his home.

Dr. Williams was a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church of Beaufort.  He began his career with the NC Community College System before his work in nuclear education and training for Carolina Power and Light (Duke Energy) which he did for many years. He then returned to the college system and retired as the President of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, NC. He was active in several Civic Organizations during his lifetime.

Always in service, he loved Jesus, he treated his wife like Christ treats the Church.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Rex Presbyterian Church in Rex, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Williams of Newport; son, Stuart Williams and wife, Pauline of Raleigh; stepson, Josh Hancock of Orlando, FL; stepson, Michael Hancock of Beaufort; three grandsons, Joshua Hancock of Newport; Greyson Williams of Raleigh; Bennett Williams of Raleigh; brother, Frederick Williams Jr. and wife, Eliza of St. Pauls, NC; sister, Nancy Cooke and husband, Alex of New Smyrna, FL; and nieces, nephew, and great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Bertha Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Research or to your local Hospice.
