Gene Paul Watson, age 87, of St. Pauls, NC, was born on July 19, 1937, to the late Ewen Dent and Hettie Brown and peacefully departed this life on June 5, 2025, at his residence.

Gene proudly served in the North Carolina National Guard for 13 years. He was a devoted member of Carolina Baptist Church, where he found strength in his faith and fellowship in his community.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Velma Watson of the home; three sons, Rodney Watson of Thomasville, Kenneth Ray Watson of Lumberton, and Steve Watson of the home; two half-brothers, David Dent of Rowland and Noah Brown of St. Pauls; several half-sisters; nine grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Gene will be remembered for his steadfast love for family, commitment to service, and warm presence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
