Henry Arthur “Midge” Torrey, son of Henry Charles and Lillian Marie Utzig Torrey of Dubuque, Iowa.

Henry was born December 30, 1938 in Dubuque and departed life at his home in St. Pauls, NC on August 9, 2026.

He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Attie Lois Mauldin Torrey; and survived by two sons, William Joseph “Billy” and Robert Alan “Bud”; and two daughters; Beverly Ann Torrey Gentry, all of St. Pauls, NC and Belinda Adora Torrey Powers of Hope Mills, NC, and a sister, Carol Ann Torrey Brandel, of Dubuque, Iowa. He also has nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Henry began his military service with the Iowa National Guard in Dubuque, Iowa, with 18 months of service. He then went into the active service with the United States Army, where he spent 27 years, 5 months and 6 days.

During his career, he was stationed in Alaska, England, Dominican Republic, South Vietnam (2), South Thailand, and South Korea (3).

After retiring from service, Henry worked for the United States Postal Service for 18 years.

Henry was a faithful member of Great Marsh Baptist Church of St. Pauls, NC. Henry served as an usher and on the cemetery committee, a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.
