Isolina Aponte Colon

Isolina Aponte Colon, 87, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 31st, 2022. She was born on May 13th, 1935 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico to the late Confesor Aponte and Cruz Colon.  

Isolina came to New York City in the late 1950s, eventually residing in Brooklyn. 

Known as a kind and generous mother, she would welcome family and friends into her home, offering them traditional Puerto Rican meals and coffee. She loved holiday parties, where she would always welcome the latest addition to her family with great enthusiasm, and was usually found smiling and laughing. A strong and independent woman, she loved to tend to her backyard garden and lived a quaint life in Fayetteville, never forgetting her Puerto Rican heritage, and instilling the virtues of moderation and selflessness to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Jeannette Muriel and husband Victor Muriel, and is survived by her four daughters Maria Muriel, Maritza Muriel, Migdalia M. Caballero, Priscilla Muriel and husband Edwin Santiago; her ten grandchildren William Daniel Sanchez, Jovanni Sanchez, Claritza Quinto, Cesar Quinto, Victor Sanchez, Anibal Rosado, William D. Caballero, Miguel Santiago, Icela Santiago, and Marcus Santiago; 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
