Lynda Darden Hall

d. March 12, 2023

Stocksdale, NC formally of St. Pauls

Lynda Darden Hall passed Sunday, March 12, 2023. Lynda was born in Parkton, NC and grew up in St. Pauls, NC. She attended St. Paul’s High School. She attended business school and worked as a bank secretary before she married her high school sweetheart, Edward ‘Pug’ Hall.

Lynda and Pug gave birth to their first child, Bradley Lamont Hall, a child with Down’s Syndrome in 1966. Lynda was a strong advocate for her son’s education and life path.   Lynda and Pug traveled extensively through Pug’s time in the Air Force, including stints in Denver, Colorado and the island of Guam. They made friends from all over the world.  Their daughter Tracy Lynn was born in 1975. The couple eventually settled back in St. Pauls.

Lynda was an excellent homemaker.  She truly loved her family and friends with a thoughtfulness and attentiveness that was admirable. She was an easily pleased person who was most joyful when she was with her loved ones.

She was a friend to many and would go out of her way to care for others. Even in her later years she was very social and delighted in playing bridge and organizing lunches with her ladies social groups including a time in the Red Hat Society. She never failed to ask after people in her community and was always ready to send a card or give a call in support. In her final days at the Country Side Retirement Village she was well loved by staff.

At the end of her life, she was deeply cared for and supported by her family and friends. Before leaving St. Pauls, when her mobility had decreased, Rick and Linda Cromartie stepped in and assisted her with running her household with love and care. Her nephew Joe Sherril provided her with accounting advice and ended up being her most trusted advisor. Joe was indispensable to Lynda over the last years. In her last months, Lynda was able to be in close contact with her son Brad. Her nephew Mike Savage and his amazing wife Hetty cared for Brad close by and brought him for visits almost daily so that mother and son would not need to be apart while they could still be together. They also worked with staff to make sure that Lynda was getting the care she needed at Country Side.

Lynda was preceded in death by the love of her life ‘Pug’ Hall, her sister Suzanne Savage, and her brother’s Jimmy Sherril and Joe Sherrill Sr. Lynda is survived by many. She is survived by her sister- in- law Lillian Sherril. Her son Brad Hall, her daughter Tracy Braden, husband Berkeley and their daughter Jada.   Additionally, there are several nieces and nephews who were fond of Lynda and will lovingly remember her.
