Mabel Elizabeth Gray

Mrs. Mabel Elizabeth Gray, 83, of St. Pauls, NC was born September 13, 1939 in Robeson Co. to the late Jesse and Janie Hill and departed this life, March 14, 2023 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton.

In addition to her parents, Mabel is preceded in death by a brother, Earl Hill; two sisters, Frances Herring and Geraldine Gray and a granddaughter, Leann Gray.

Mabel leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 63 years, Jack Gray of the home; one son, Jeff Gray and wife, Debra of Hogansville, Ga.; one grandson, Brandon Gray of St. Pauls; one granddaughter, Autumn Gray of Florida; ten great grandchildren; her special extended family, Tommy Edwards and Dawn Clayton and their families; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mabel was a faithful and devoted member of Second Baptist Church in St. Pauls for many years where she served as the Children’s Sunday School Teacher.  Anyone who knew Mabel  could tell she loved the Lord by her caring and loving spirit. She greeted everyone with a hug and a smile. Mabel was also a devoted member of the choir. In later years, when her vision failed her, she continued to sing by heart. Her presence will be greatly missed not only at Second Baptist but by everyone that knew and loved her.  She also worked for 21 years as a Cafeteria Worker for the St. Pauls Public Schools.
