Malcolm Kenneth Register, age 78, was born on June 12, 1947, in Cumberland County to the late Malcolm Lee and Mary Catherine Jackson Register. He departed this life for his heavenly home on July 10, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Lee Register, and two sisters, Maxine R. Hoff and Faye R. Ezzel.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Fendley Register of the home; two sons, Kenneth Bradley Register of Fayetteville and Matthew Walton Register of Woodland Hills, California; two granddaughters, Isabella A. Register and Leah M. Register, both of Woodland Hills, California; along with a host of extended family and dear friends.
Malcolm faithfully served the Fayetteville community for 18 years as a Teletype Operator with the Fayetteville Observer before answering a deeper calling. He went on to earn a Funeral Service degree and became a Licensed Funeral Director, devoting 34 years to caring for families through his work with several funeral establishments.
He was a dedicated member of Haymount United Methodist Church and, in his earlier years, served as a volunteer firefighter in Cumberland County—an expression of his lifelong commitment to service and helping others.
Malcolm will be remembered for his steady presence, professional dedication, and warm spirit that touched the lives of many.
