Maryln “Carol” Strong, known lovingly as Grandma Carol to most, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the age of 79. A resident of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Carol was born and raised in Lumberton, NC, where she began a life defined by strength, resilience, and deep love for her family.

Carol was tough as nails—a woman who spent years as an 18-wheel truck driver, proving she could hold her own in any lane life put her in. She lived with grit, humor, and a heart that made space for everyone. While many knew her as Carol, and others knew her as Maryln, to her family she was simply Grandma Carol—the center of it all.

She had a deep love for reading her Bible, a quiet but steady faith that guided her life. When she wasn’t spending time in the Word, you could find her with her beloved dog, Tina, who held a very special place in her heart.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her four children: Danny, Bridget, Gidget, and Lucinda (Cindy)—each named after movie stars, a detail she never let anyone forget. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and recently welcomed her first great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her five brothers, who lovingly called her “Sis.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Twiss and Cary Edge, and her two sisters.

Carol had a gift for storytelling that will live on in the memories of those who loved her. Whether she meant to or not, she could make anyone laugh—often without even trying. Her stories, her voice, and her presence are things her family will carry with them forever.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unwavering love.
