Rev. Waylon Delrose Jones, age 88 of St. Pauls was born in Johnston Co., NC on July 15, 1935 to the late Melvin Roscoe Jones and Gladys Adel Eason Jones Cates and departed this life to his heavenly home on September 29, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Karen in Autryville, NC.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jones; three brothers, Bobby Jones, Jessie Jones and Tony Cates; two sisters, Mildred Reilly and Diane Hamilton and a granddaughter, Shannon Fuquay.
Rev. Jones leaves to cherish his memories and mourn his passing, two daughters, Karen Sue Jones of Autryville and Julia Jones Fuquay and husband, Robert of Erwin; one brother, Glenn Cates of Smithfield; two sisters, Pat Pierce and Clara Jean Cates both of Smithfield; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Rev. Jones was a US Army Veteran. He was also an ordained ministered, evangelizing for many years; His love for the Lord and the Scriptures were evident in his life, his favorite passage from the Bible was Psalm 23. Rev. Jones also worked and retired from Black and Decker in Fayetteville.
