Robert Benefiel, Jr.

Robert Joseph "Benny" Benefiel, Jr. , 64, of Lumber Bridge, NC passed away March 26, 2016 in his home following a long illness. He was employed for 22 years, 4 months in the US Air Force where he proudly served his country from 26 Sept. 1973-1 Oct. 1991. After that he was employed by the DODEES. Formerly of Gibson City, IL, Benny was the son of the late Robert Joseph Benefiel, Sr. and Rita Worland Benefiel. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diana Roush Benefiel and a son, John William Benefiel; the loving brother of 5 sisters and 1 brother, Nancy Bode and husband John, Martha Heavilin and husband Steve, Jane Stanley and husband Rod, Susan Ferguson and husband Jim, Amy Stoltz and husband Jerry and Tom Benefiel and wife Jaime; 4 nieces, 9 nephews and 3 great grandnephews. He is survived, also, by a much loved sister-in-law, Brandi Rosch Beller and husband Raine O. "Skeeter" Beller and his mother-in-law, Janet Faye Atkinson Roush of Eleanor, WV. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday April 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gibson City, IL. and local services will be Thursday April 7, 2016 at 7:00 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home of St. Pauls.
