Sue Stubbs Maness, 85, of Lumberton, NC and formally of Florence, SC passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022 at UNC Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC.

Mrs. Maness was born on September 5, 1937 in Pembroke, NC, the daughter of the late Nicholas Carl Stubbs and Jeannette Tyner Stubbs.  She married Theodore Edgar Maness, Jr. on December 24, 1954.  She and her husband moved to Florence, SC in 1957 where they raised their family until moving back to Parkton, NC in 1986.  She was a member of Parkton Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder of the church and previously served as Clerk of Sessions.

Mrs. Maness was an LPN and worked for Woodhaven Nursing Center in Lumberton until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maness is preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Carl Stubbs, Jr. and a grandson Duncan Rite Clark.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Theodore Edgar Maness, Jr.; sons, Ted Maness, III (Katie) of McLean, Virginia, Nick Maness (Mary) of Rockingham, North Carolina and Richard Maness of Rotunda West, Florida; her daughter, Jeanne Clark (Danny) of Florence, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tyler Clark (Jessi), of Florence, South Carolina, Elizabeth Maness of McLean, Virginia and Teddy Maness, IV of McLean, Virginia; great grandchildren; Mason Clark, Levi Clark, Lily Clark and Liam Clark all of Florence, South Carolina; a niece, Betsy Kinlaw of Lumberton, North Carolina and a nephew Bill Maness of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkton Presbyterian Church.
