Sybil Dean Norton, 93, of Shelby, North Carolina, departed this life peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

She was born May 29, 1933, in Jones County, North Carolina, to the late Willie Andrews Jones and Myrtle Mae Andrews. Sybil was a devoted homemaker who treasured spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching “real-life” television shows and Days of Our Lives, playing Candy Crush, sharing family stories, and taking car rides.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hinton Norton Sr.; her son, Bryan W. Norton; four brothers; and two sisters.

Sybil leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Fred Norton Jr. and Donald P. Norton; two daughters, Janice N. St. Romain and Michelle Anglea; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. at McNeill-Legacy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
